Highlands Park Eyes PSL Return

Highlands Park Football Club is making a determined push for promotion back to the Premier Soccer League (PSL) as they continue to deliver impressive performances in the National First Division (NFD).

The Lions of the North have showcased resilience and ambition throughout the season, positioning themselves as strong contenders for a top-flight return.

Under the guidance of their coaching staff, Highlands Park has demonstrated tactical discipline and team cohesion. Their recent matches have been marked by solid defensive displays and effective attacking strategies, contributing to a series of positive results that have bolstered their standing in the NFD.

The Lions of the North defeated another former PSL side Jomo Cosmos 1-0 yesterday to be crowned the Gauteng champions with one game to spare. The game between Highlands Park and Cosmos took place at Duduza Stadium in Johannesburg.

The Victor Tshabalala-coached side has accumulated 80 points from 33 outings. They are six points clear of the second-placed Gomora United, who are under the leadership of Johnny Ferreira.

In those 33 games, Highlands Park managed to secure 25 wins, five draws, and suffered three losses.

As a result, the Lions of the North will represent Gauteng at the upcoming SAFA National Playoffs set to be held next month in Bloemfontein, Free State.

As the season progresses, Highlands Park remains focused on their objective of securing promotion. With a blend of experienced leadership and youthful energy, the team is poised to reclaim its place in South Africa’s premier football division, bringing renewed excitement to their supporters.
